Understanding Vein Disease and Treatment

To better understand venous disease, it is important to know the purpose and functions of the veins in your body. Healthy veins pump blood back to the heart through valves that stop the blood form flowing in the opposite direction. Sometimes these valves become weakened allowing blood to flow backward and pool inside the veins. The result is a high pressure build-up inside the veins leading to venous disease.

Insurance Information

The treatment philosophy at the IVC Interventional Vascular & Vein Center is one of teamwork. The experienced staff includes seven physicians who are board certified, fellowship-trained vascular specialists; four nurse practitioners; and three registered vascular sonographers. Together they bring synergistic experience and perspective which combine to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive vein care. The goal is first to comprehensively diagnose any and all sources of venous reflux. All potential sources of abnormal backward flow in veins are identified using ultrasound and in some cases, angiography (venography).

Only after patients undergo a thorough diagnostic evaluation is a treatment plan formulated. The IVC Interventional Vascular & Vein Center, one of the busiest vein treatment clinics in the Intermountain West, is also a referral center for many of the area’s most challenging cases. The center meets the challenge by providing the best in in-office diagnostics and treatment options available, with access to high-tech hospital-based resources as needed.

"Had I known the procedure was so quick and painless I probably would have taken care of the problem much sooner. Not worrying about both the pain and appearance of varicose veins has been a major confidence booster. I never really avoided wearing shorts, but I did tire of explaining what those unsightly bulging veins were that protruded from my leg."
